Le Bourgeois

Le bourgeois, the company man in the canoe, was usually a highly respected individual. He was the man
that took care of all the monetary business for the Voyageurs. As a result of this le bourgeois wasn't
expected to work as much physically when it came to the trips. Most of his gear was carried by others
and he lived a relatively relaxed life while on the water. This individual had huge amounts of trust
thrust upon him since he carried all the money for the crew and made most of the deals for the company.
This position in our crew is given to an individual with excellent mathematical skills and a
trustworthy personality. Our Bourgeois would be the equivalent to a treasurer in modern terms.
Currently Paul Sanford holds this position. Paul has held le bourgeois title more than once as a
senior member of the crew. It is his responsibility to report to the crew each meeting with a financial
report describing all incoming and outgoing transactions, along with balancing the books. As the crew
grows as do the tasks of Le Bourgeois.
